Wherever you go, wherever you land

It's hard to believe it's been over a month since I last blogged. The nomadic life has taken its toll but has lent itself to some savory Freewheelin' tales. There have been too many photo experiences to mention, so I'll recall just a few.
I can't say enough good things about the Ithaca Post. This new online arts and entertainment publication has introduced me to this beautiful town and its residents in such an organic way. Please peruse the site to find my photos, mostly displayed in the Weekend or Music round-up galleries. It was working with them that I was recently afforded an opportunity to shoot The Flaming Lips.

While not the biggest Lips fan, the experience still ranks high on my list of remarkable live music performances. But I left feeling a little unsatiated, a little out of the loop if you will. After all, I was a Lips virgin. Thank God for Thao Nguyen, who performed down the road immediately following the show, at Castaways. It was seeing this remarkable woman and her band, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down

that redeemed an otherwise confusing night.

I spend an inordinate amount of time doing what I love most - seeing and shooting the plethora of live music that covers this town like a blanket.

Endless happy hours filled with musician's too good for the street.

And I continue to do the editorial work that I love. Last month, I shot portraits of survivors and relatives of the Binghamton massacre, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the tragedy.
Pictured is Ban Khalil, who lost her mother, Layla Khalil, on April 3, 2009.

Or working for the SyFy channel, shooting a couple of TAPS Ghost Hunters (that's me in the middle there), during a recent 'investigation' of the National Baseball Hall of Fame:

Well keep on living hard and fast then, life does not wait... Your few die-hard blog fans are always happy to see you when you can make it into the blogosphere, and it is always worth the wait... The Ithaca Times is one lucky newspaper...
